Destress with Deep Belly Breath
Are you a shallow breather? Shallow breathing is when the lungs are not completely filled when you inhale. Think breathing into the top of the chest only. Most people do not fully inhale when breathing so shallow breathing is extremely common. As a yoga teacher, birth doula + wellness practitioner Deep Breathing + connecting to Breath comes naturally to me now, but 10 years ago not so much. Like many of you, I was out here living and surviving in my shallow breath with no issues at all. But here is the thing. We don’t know what we don’t know. I had no idea how much of a disservice I…

4 Pillars of Gratitude
Tis’ the season🥳! We are officially 2 weeks and 6 days away from saying farewell to 2020 + welcoming 2021 and all its possibilities. Being this close to the end of the year feels different this go round. I know I’m not the only one that feels like this has both been the LONGEST year ever + feeling like where did 2020 even go😅? During this time of year, I like to dig deep and go heavy on my gratitude. Making room for gratitude is an important aspect of my self-care rituals. My gratitude practice keeps me in check. Reminds me to not just see the big picture, but to have a…

Energetically Grounding
How I start the week is extremely important. My Mondays set the tone for how the rest of my week will go energetically. If Monday flies by, everything happens without a hitch, Im optimistic about the rest of the week to follow. In the same breath if my Monday is full of hiccups, detours + the unexpected then Im energetically drained right at the start of the week. Because I am aware of how important the way I begin my week is to my energy + mindset, I take extra steps to ground and protect my energy on Mondays. Grounding provides us with the tools needed to protect our energy.…

Taking Care of You
I am a big believer in the idea that everything happens for a reason. That series of events are all connected in one way or another. Over the last few weeks we have been taking inventory. Making space for peace in so many different aspects of our lives. Cleansing internally and externally in our homes, creating space for more Joy, Hope, PEACE. If you have been following along with me on my journey, then you know that we have been preparing for this exact moment in time. We have been doing the work internally on ourselves in order to be equipped to keep our peace within. In light of the…

Breathing Deep
Big inhale in through the nose, filling up the lungs. Open mouth exhale slowly allowing the breath to leave the lungs. Do this twice more, taking your time to inhale deeply and exhale fully. Did you know breathing is part of our life force? That stress + anxiety can be reduced and managed through your breath? In times of stress or anxiety the way that we breath can be affected, causing us to breathe at a shorter and faster rate. This increase in the pace or rate of your breathing causes you to take in less oxygen which of course adds more to your stress and anxiety. Slowing your breathing…

Inhale, Exhale: Meditation for Beginners
Meditation for a long time has gotten a bad wrap. Truth be told there was a time not too long ago that if you asked me if I meditated I would boldly say nope thats not the life that I live. Like most of you reading I had preconceived notions in my head about what meditation was and how I didn’t need that sort of thing in my life (LOL). Spoiler alert, I was wrong on so many levels. Myths that I had built in my mind: Meditation is sitting in a room in silence, there is 0 chance I can ever quiet my thoughts, meditation has no real purpose…

Yoga + Self Care
(This page contains Affiliate Link. For more information see my disclosures, here) The reasons why I came to yoga are so simple now that I think back to my very 1st day on the mat. I knew deep down there was something missing, didnt have a clue of what exactly but one thing was for sure each and every time I came off that mat I felt closer to whatever “it” was. Social media would have you believe that yoga is about being apart of Cirque Du Soleil or that you have to be this freaky thin contortionist. None of that is true. In its simplest form yoga means to…

Gratitude
Coming off a long weekend of intense body + mind/soul work through Yoga teacher training I was inspired to actively show gratitude this week. Dont get me wrong I am one to say a quick thanks to the universe when things work out and of course when I am protected from not so pleasant things or people. My goal was to tune in deeper on the gratitude front and truly “attempt” to appreciate things/people in real time. Surprisingly it was actually harder than I thought it would be. Most humans if thinking about things that they are grateful for or blessed to have ect, we think big ticket items such…
