Destress with Deep Belly Breath
Are you a shallow breather? Shallow breathing is when the lungs are not completely filled when you inhale. Think breathing into the top of the chest only. Most people do not fully inhale when breathing so shallow breathing is extremely common. As a yoga teacher, birth doula + wellness practitioner Deep Breathing + connecting to Breath comes naturally to me now, but 10 years ago not so much. Like many of you, I was out here living and surviving in my shallow breath with no issues at all. But here is the thing. We don’t know what we don’t know. I had no idea how much of a disservice I…

The Intentional Budget
It’s been a few weeks of warmer weather in most parts of the world + as we are each stepping our toes back into the swing of things, I keep hearing the same thing over and over. Outside costs way more than anyone remembers lol. So I dont know if things have gone “up” in price or if it is the fact that we have been home so long not making unnecessary day-to-day purchases, but either way, now is the time to get a budget if you don’t already have one. Truth Moment: I’ve used the word “budget” very loosely pretty much my entire adult life without even truly knowing what…

The Power of No: Know Your Worth
I have to admit something. I was last year years old when I learned what FOMO was and that I was suffering from it bad! If you dont know (like I surely didnt) FOMO is the Fear of Missing Out. The feeling that you have to act now, purchase or say yes now, or you will miss out. For the longest time I was a knee-jerk reactor, one that couldn’t pass up a sale, invite, offer and definitely the one that you could most likely get to agree to something last minute🤦🏾♀️. I chased the rush and was pretty much addicted to the “high” of the acting right away.…

Midday Energy Boosters
We are about 2 weeks + some change removed from daylights savings and I don’t know about you, but I am STILL adjusting to the time change. Im not sure if its the shift in seasons (hello Spring) or having a much looser schedule but Ive been hitting an energy wall at about 3pm every day. There really hasnt been much change to my routine specifically since the start of the year so my only guess is Daylights savings, go figure. Since I have been hitting this midday fatigue I have been taking extra steps to find ways to add more “pep” in my afternoon. While the goal is not…

The Art of Nurturing Self
You my friend are so deserving of love. It’s funny that sometimes we need reminding or permission to know that we are worthy + deserving of love. Not just any ole kind of love too, a love that is so deep and pure that only YOU know how to do for yourself. Just like in any other relationship, self-love is a daily commitment and choice that is continuous over time. A never ending cycle of embracing ALL the parts of you. Messy, ugly and beautiful, but most importantly it is yours. Self love is your birth right and YOUR choice to make each and every day. Im gonna be honest…

4 Pillars of Consistency
We can all have the very best intentions when it comes to our health and well-being. The decisions to eat better, spend more time reading, getting outside + all the things that help us to be the best versions of ourselves. We start out full steam ahead + then, BAM, suddenly things begin to slack off. Maybe we start not eating as well, reading very much or getting enough rest. It happens to the best of us😩😩😩. Bringing on Change One of the biggest mistakes that we can make when deciding to bring change in our lives is thinking that it is an instantaneous event, as in I say I…

Energetic Currency: How are you spending it?
Did you know that your Energy is a form of currency? Currency in its simplest definition is a means of exchange, trading one thing for another. This exchange can include time, service, product or even an exchange of energy. Energy isn’t just “vibes”, gut feelings or intuitions. Our overall energy is a reflection of where we spend our time + efforts. As we continue to ease into 2021, now is the perfect time to reflect and evaluate how we’ve spent our energy over the last few months. Evaluation + Reflection Let’s face it, energy has the ability to be influenced and manipulated by factors outside of self. It can be intensified or depleted, so…

Whats Eating You? Gut Health
During this time of year we start talking all things’ health; mental health, physical health, spiritual health and so forth. There may even be a conversation or two about changing the way we eat by removing or adding somethings to our everyday diet. Now while this particular conversation may come with a little bit of uneasiness depending on your relationship with food there is some significant importance surrounding gut health. Essentially gut health is how well our insides, bacteria + enzymes function in the digestive tract. This is a big deal because if food isn’t broken down properly, then the nutrients we need can not be absorbed in the blood…

An Invitation to Take Inventory
The last 3 days have been all about Gratitude (over on my IG feed) + if you are a part of the 4 Days of Gratitude newsletter series! In this short time, Ive learned 1 important thing. The easiest way to tap into inner joy is through gratitude. Something as simple as finding gratefulness in the small every day moments can cultivate an environment of abundance and presence. It is very easy to get caught up in all the things happening around us as we continue to maneuver life in this “new” normal. Things may not look how we may have pictured they would look this time last year…
