THE FRAMEWORK

The Four Transitions

Here’s the thing nobody sat you down + told you: your body has been moving through chapters your whole life. Big ones. And most of us got handed pieces of the story, never the whole arc.

You learned about your period like it was a problem to manage. You learned about pregnancy maybe, if you got pregnant. Postpartum? You were left to figure that out at 3am by yourself. And perimenopause? Chile, they really just let that one sneak up on us like a thief in the night.

The Four Transitions is the map. It’s how I see a woman’s whole hormonal life. Four chapters that connect, each one shaping the next. When you can finally see the whole arc, you stop feeling broken + start understanding what your body’s actually been doing this whole time.

So let’s walk it. All four.

This is where it starts + where most of us got cheated. Nobody taught us how our cycle actually works, what each phase is for, or how to live with our rhythm instead of fighting it every single month. Cycle literacy is the foundation. Once you have the language for what your body’s doing across the month, everything after this makes more sense.

Conception, pregnancy, labor, delivery. The chapter the world thinks it knows everything about + still gets so wrong, especially for Black + Brown women. I’ve supported families through this one as a doula + I’ve lived it myself. This is where advocacy matters most, because you deserve to be seen, heard + supported in that room, not talked at.

Everybody claps when the baby comes + then goes quiet. But postpartum is not 6 weeks. It’s a season, + then a long arc after that nobody warns you about. This is the chapter where mothers get missed. Real care here means tending to the woman, not just the baby. The fourth trimester is not a hashtag.

The one they let sneak up on us. Perimenopause is not the beginning of the end, it’s the beginning of the next thing. This is where lifestyle medicine becomes liberation + biohacking your own biology stops being a buzzword + starts being your birthright. Life does not slow down in your 40s. Not on my watch.

Truth Moment? You can’t fully understand one chapter without the others. What happens in your menstrual years shapes your fertility years. How you’re cared for in postpartum shapes how you walk into perimenopause. It’s all one body, one arc, one woman.

Most women were taught to think about their bodies in pieces. I teach the whole. That’s the work. That’s the map. + wherever you’re standing on it right now, there’s a way in.
