Walking Through Vision
I built the Room I Never Got
There is something absolutely insane about building something you have never seen. There are so many things that you have to push back mentally + emotionally before any idea is even truly realized. They don’t talk enough about what it takes to be an innovator. If I didn’t know any better, I would think a person came up with an idea one day + by the end of the week, that idea is fully executed + looks exactly how the person imagined.
Truth Moment? On Juneteenth, I stood on land out here in NC, completely overwhelmed with emotions. The quiet yet big kind of emotions. The kind of emotions that make you want to shake your entire body to see if its even real.
I was standing where my retreat will happen, in a place that I had only seen in my mind for the last few years. Big beautiful Domes behind me, herbs growing in real dirt, chickens laying eggs, the wetlands doing what wetlands do + all the sounds of nature that makes you feel small in a way that actually feels like a relief + one single thought crossed my mind: this is the EXACT room, that I never got.
Whew. Ok, let me back up.
I’ve spent the last almost decade in rooms with women whose bodies were trying to tell them something + nobody ever taught them how to take notice, let alone listen. Birth rooms. Postpartum rooms. Women in their thirties just now learning what ovulation is. Women in their forties blindsided by perimenopause because not one person warned them it was coming…ok, sometimes there were warnings but we didn’t know to listen. Women in their twenties on their fourth kind of birth control because the first three made them feel like strangers in their own skin + the doctor never explained why.
I kept seeing the same thing everywhere I looked. We are walking around in bodies that this society never really considered outside of birthing a child. We have been handed pieces, only when we ask, only when there is already an issue. A pamphlet here. A prescription there. A podcast episode we half-listened to in the car. Bits + pieces all over the place, never the whole map. And that’s truly by design. When people don’t have the information, they don’t know they can help themselves. This causes us to loose trust in our inner knowing + that’s a whole different kind of slippery slope.
That is the wound that I keep coming back to, the very ouch that each woman has + what evens out the playing field lowkey. A moment for transparency? Chile I have tried to solve/heal this wound every way that I know. I made a course. I show up online. I write here in this space. I show up at wellness events, conferences + panels. I built a whole virtual apothecary, doula business + each step I have taken matters. They have moved the needle in some way. What I’ve come to realize is there is a type of teaching + learning that does not happen through a screen. It actually takes place in the body, in a room, on the land, with other women, slow enough that it actually sinks in.
So that is what I built.
Rooted in Her Body is my baby that has finally found its home at B- Omi Farms, a WOMAN Black-owned working farm in beautiful Wendell NC. I didnt pick a hotel ballroom or a conference space. I am rooted to the land of NC in such a beautiful unique way. I’ve lived here my entire life. I am the descendent of sharecroppers + the enslaved of Eastern NC. I picked the land because it is a big portion of who I am, my history + roots. This land does a part of the teaching with me. Domes that you sleep in. A pavilion + open spaces where we can gather in. Herbs + wild flowers that you will actually put your hands on. Because the body does not learn safety simply from a slide deck or a speech. It learns safety from rest, ritual + other women telling the truth around a fire. Sister circles are the portals that we have all been missing.

Gathering as women was ALWAYS the key. It was the blueprint + how our ancestors survived over + over again. It has always been about those stories that were shared in the quiet moments.
We will move through what I call the Four Transitions: the menstrual years, the fertility + birthing years, postpartum, perimenopause + beyond. The entire arc, the full picture, not just one slice or point in time. We will move our bodies + then let them actually rest. We will eat WELL. If you know me personally, vittles are SO important to me. We will blend herbs + dead sea salts to create our own personalized sitz soaks with our own hands.
There will be two experiences with the same ending in mind; connection, clarity + community. In the single day experience we will get deep with the concentrated knowledge + during the overnight experiences in the we will sit around the fire + share the stories we typically dont say out loud. Whether it is a single day experience or the full weekend, by the end you will know things about your own body that nobody ever taught you + I promise you will drive home forever changed, in the best ways.
Truth Moment? This is not a yoga pants, woowoo wellness. This is not a luxury spa day or weekend where you will leave the same woman as you came as. This is an invitation back home to yourself. This is for the woman who is somewhere real in her lifecycle + is done being handed the pieces. This is for the woman who wants to be a CO-Creator in her life, who has the desire to connect with her own inner knowing. If any of this is you, you already feel + know it.
Each of these experiences absolutely will be small groups, no more than teen women for the overnight experiences + less than 20 for the single days. The number of women has always mattered to me because it creates real proximity + community which allows for the most beautiful connections. Ive witnessed it first hand. Like everything I do, I am taking my time with Rooted in Her Body + I have released the single days experience registration this week. The full weekend experiences will be happening in the fall in October + registration will be opening towards the end of August
For the single day experience, there isn’t any application process. This one is an open invitation to all women that feel called for a day on the land to connect back to self. The weekend experience will be handled a little bit different with a waitlist application process. We will be spending almost three whole days together + I want to know who is coming so I can hold the room the way you deserve to be held. Fill out the application + I will be in touch.
I built this for the women who want to change the narrative of what they know about themselves + their bodies. If some part of your body said yes while you were reading this, that is not an accident. That is part of you that already knows.
Come be in your body with us.
XOXO
