Hi! Im Denawa
A holistic lifestyle in its simplest form is the treatment of the whole person, by taking into account mental + social factors, rather than just the physical symptoms.
I first discovered yoga when I was 22 years old after having my daughter + quickly realized I didn’t like it. If I’m honest I didn’t like it because it required me to connect with my inner self and as a single mom that wasn’t something that I was trying to do. It wasn’t until a few years later that my journey to healing led me back to my yoga mat. It was right there on my yoga mat that I was able to really see my inner self and evaluate my feelings, values and emotions . With consistent practice I began to shift mentally things that had been weighing me down. I discovered that yoga was so much more than poses! It was actually movement meditation. A way to release blocks, connect with self on a deeper level and a form of self care!
I was introduced to meditation through my first yoga teacher training and instantly understood the power in the ability to quiet the mind. Through meditation I was able to connect with myself on levels that I had never been able to do before. As a person who once suffered from anxiety I found meditation as an exceptional tool to have in my self care toolkit.
I took the valuable education of yoga and meditation and began teaching. Helping my students and clients connect, heal and release in over 150 classes in my very first year. But that wasn’t enough. I found myself on a personal level diving deeper into my Holistic journey of Herbalism. As a long time plant mom, I have always known the healing benefits of plants and herbs. I’ve used both plants and herbs as natural remedies for years and wanted to formally educate myself to provide this essential knowledge to my clients and students.
It has always been my path to support + help people. I am 100% that person who shares what I have found to be helpful or useful. In each area of my life + journey, there has always been the same theme: “How can I support?” This is the theme that led me to my prenatal yoga training and from there my passion to help + support women who looked like me, women of color during their pregnancy. As a mom, aunt, daughter and sister I understand all too well the importance of having someone there to support you during a time where you will need it most.
The common thread to each of my personal and professional experiences has been the desire to serve, support and empower others. My only goal is to educate, support and empower women to trust their innate strength as women through consistent self care.
